YTD 3-5-0

Last week was a sweet little appetizer for college football this week is the real deal. Five straight days of this divine sport. Week One this year has some very enticing matchups and I hope I can capitalize and win some money on historical trends continuing this year. The beginning of the year is always particularly interesting simply for the fact that we don’t know what a lot of these teams will look like. We have an idea of what they have been in the past and we can look towards recruiting metrics, but at the end of the day you are gambling on a sport played by 18-22 year old’s coached by equally as emotionally stunted older men. This premise of course brings opportunity though before Vegas and all their computers are fed more data as games are actually played and they zero in on better lines. Without further ado let’s get to my card for this week.

Sides YTD 1-4-0

NC State (-14) vs UConn

This game feels similar to the Notre Dame game last week where I project NC State will have a massive advantage along both lines of scrimmage. NC State should be able to run the football and stop the run which in any form of football is import, but especially so in college football. I am interested to see what type of QB play the wolfpack will get without Devin Leary this year. In terms of road openers with a new QB I don’t expect Mansfield Connecticut to be that daunting.

Florida vs Utah (-5)

In all honesty I have gone back and forth on this game. It sounds like Cam Rising is not going to be playing for the Utes tonight. That being said I don’t love Graham Mertz making his first start as a gator in an environment like Utah. This game was electric last year in Gainesville I had the Utes in that game and lost so lets hope for a reversal of fortunes this year up at elevation away from the Swamp.

Central Michigan vs Michigan State (-14)

This just has the feel of a game that the spartans need to win convincingly. At home against a MAC school to open the year a tale as old as time in this one the Big 10 team needs to roll. I do love the chippewas but this is just to much to start the season Sparty and big.

Colorado vs TCU (-20.5)

Everyone in the country is excited to see what Deion Sanders can do in Boulder. Much has been made of the massive amounts of transfers the buffs have brought in, but everyone seems to forget this was a very good TCU squad last year. Factoring in that this game is at 11am in Fort Worth I think this one will get ugly for Deion in his debut.

Virginia vs Tennessee (-28)

Rocket arm Joe Milton. The Vols I imagine this year will continue to put points up at insane rate that couple that with a bad virginia offense and the fact I have very little faith in the Cavs coaching staff it will be a party in Knoxville this saturday.

Utah St vs Iowa (-24)

Everyone loves to shit on the Hawkeyes offense these days, but at the end of the day Iowas wins a lot of football games. Why is that? It is because they play the other two phases of the game very well. I also like the fact that they went out and got Cade Macnamera from Michigan who just two short years ago led the wolverines to a college football playoff appearance. With their offensive transfer additions and the fact that Brian Ferentz is coaching for his job the Hawkeyes will take care of teams like the aggies with a renewed fervor.

ECU vs Michigan (-36)

No team has won me more money over the last two years than the wolverines. No Harbaugh no problem lay the 36.

LA Tech vs SMU (-20.5)

At just inside three touchdowns I love the mustangs to take care of business in their home opener. Plus got to look good so old George W can sneak them into some of that ACC money.

Ohio State (-30) vs Indiana

Indiana has not beat the Buckeyes since 12 years before I was born I am 23. Ohio State loves to absolutely dog bad big 10 teams plus just look at Ohio States WR room alone.

Boise State (+14.5) vs Washington

With my tenth pick I finally select an Underdog. I like the broncos in the chris peterson bowl. I think they should have an enough on offense to keep this respectable just curious how they hold up against what most expect to be a ver formidable Huskies offense.

Buffalo vs Wisconsin (-28)

I am really curious to see what the new look badgers will show us in their opener in Madison. They have improved at coach and I want them to lay it on Buffalo this saturday.

West Virginia vs Penn State (-20.5)

Everything I’ve heard and read this offseason points to the fact that these programs are headed in very different directions. Nittany Lions roll in this one.

South Carolina (+2.5) vs UNC

This game will be played at a neutral site in Charlotte. I don’t trust UNC’s defense to be able to hold up for 4 quarters of football. I also really like how this gamecocks team was playing at the end of last year give me south carolina and the points in a shootout.

Texas Tech (-14) vs Wyoming

Not entirely sure why Tech agreed to open their season in Laramie. That being said I think the books are a bit behind this Tech team. They are good enough to go out to those windy plains and win. Hell it will probably just be a more cool (temperature wise) version of Lubbock which on second thought makes sense why you want more games in Lubbock once it cools down a bit more.

MTSU vs Alabama (-39.5)

Less than 40 at home? Don’t think to hard about it just lay the points with the Tide.

LSU vs FSU (+2.5)

Last year week one I bet on the tigers in the dome down in New Orleans and lost in heartbreaking fashion. This year I’m flipping the script and taking the Noles. Jordan Travis is the better QB in this matchup and I think his play making ability will be the difference in this game.

Totals YTD 2-1-0

Nebraska vs Minnesota (Over 43)

To many unknowns here from Nebraska’s side to pick a winner so I just decided I would like a little Thursday night over action

Florida vs Utah (Under 44.5)

With the combined physicality of these teams and with Cam Rising not playing and Graham Mertz playing on the other side I just struggle to see a world where this game goes over the total.

ECU vs Michigan (Over 51.5)

Michigan always does their best to hit these overs by themselves trust me.

Ohio State vs Indiana (Under 59)

I am going to put some faith in this buckeyes defense being improved and doing virtually all the scoring themselves this weekend.

Cal vs North Texas (Under 54)

I have little faith in either of these offenses.

Old Dominion vs VA Tech (Under 48)

ODU will somehow be in this game late and if that is the case very little points are being scored.

Miami (OH) vs Miami (FL) (Under 45.5)

I Just have to see it to believe at this point with the canes all they did last year was not cover any spreads and hit unders so lets stick with that until proven wrong.

LSU vs FSU (Over 56.5)

I really want this game to be entertaining as hell this sunday. Thus the over.

Parlay of the week

Tennessee -28, Michigan -36, Ohio State -30
