Hard to believe this will be a half a decade of my musings about a sport so near and dear to the hearts of so many people. Auburn claiming more national championships this week had me reflecting on if I should start inflating my records of years past as well. I mean they have been playing this sport for 155 years in this country and we have 266 claimed national champions at this point and time. College football is probably more unpredictable than ever at this point. To claim that I am some nostradomus of the sport could not be further from reality, but I know just enough to be dangerous to myself and others as well. With the limited slate of games for week zero I am going to instead list off some of the futures bets I have placed going into the season and maybe some light reasoning for them. So without further ado lets flip some coins preferably of the 52-48 variety.
Clemson to win the ACC +105
Cade Klubnik I believe is a very good football player. Clemson will have the most talent in the league by a good margin except for maybe Miami. Miami had Carson Beck transfer in from Georgia this offseason which downgrades the canes in my book. It is hard for me to see a future where the tigers are not playing in Charlotte for the conference crown come December.
Kansas State to win the Big 12 +600
Taking a future on the winner of the most crapshoot conference is truest sense of gambling in this sport. To say you know who will win the Big 12 when the team that was picked second to last by the media last year won the damn league and almost played spoiler to the longhorns in the playoffs is a fools errand. That is why I placed a wager on the team I think will have the best QB play this year. The Wildcats with Avery Johnson at the helm will be putting up some serious points on this campaign and his duel threat nature will hopefully be giving opposing defensive coordinators nightmares this fall.
Penn State to win the Big 10 +240
Kirby and the dawgs couldn’t win the big one until they did. We tend to think of coaches and players in binary terms until we are proven otherwise. I think this has to be the year for James Franklin and the nittany lions or it will never happen. They have a ton of returning talent at all the positions that matter. I could easily see them winning the Big 10 with this loaded roster and then losing to another Big 10 team once they make the playoffs.
Liberty to win Conference USA +115
The Evangelicals up in Lynchburg Virginia spend so much money on football and that translates to winning often in this sport.
Georgia to win the SEC +300
I really like betting on the Kirby and the dawgs. I think they will play in Atlanta again and at +300 I can always hedge later. I will not hedge though go dawgs!
Notre Dame to win the National Championship +1400
It is important to always have a flyer on the natty. They were outclassed by Ohio State skill players last year on this stage and I did bet against them. With Marcus Freeman at the wheel though I believe the echos will remain firmly awakened.

Kansas State (-3) vs Iowa State
I already told you I have them winning the league earlier so lets have them win their first game of the year in Ireland. I love the Ireland games always good memes and story lines from over there to get the season started. That time they gave away free beer. Just good times.
Idaho State vs UNLV (-26.5)
Dan Mullen always runs up a score if he can. In the opening game of his stewardship of the rebels I imagine him pouring on the points.

KState vs Iowa State Under 49.5
Rainy game with two offenses taking a little while to get their feet underneath them like new born cows. Fitting stuff for Farmageddon, which are we sure we should be calling it that this year being that it is in Ireland???
Stanford vs Hawaii Over 50.5
Week zero on Island? I am only so good of a man it would be sacrilegious to take the under.
